Ingredients:

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, cored and sliced into rings)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar or caramel sauce for garnish

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Apples: Core and slice the apples into 1/4-inch rings. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Make the Batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, milk, and egg until smooth.
  3. Coat the Rings: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Dip each apple ring into the batter, letting excess drip off, and carefully place it in the hot oil.
  4. Fry to Perfection: Fry the rings in batches, about 1-2 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce before serving warm.

Note: For extra crispiness, add a tablespoon of cornstarch to the batter, and always fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
