These Greek Meatballs (Keftedes) are juicy, aromatic, and bursting with Mediterranean flavors. Paired with a refreshing homemade tzatziki sauce, they make the perfect appetizer, main course, or meal prep option. Light, flavorful, and easy to make, they are a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or almond flour (for low-carb)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat if pan-frying.

  • In a large bowl, combine the meatball ingredients and mix well. Roll into 1-inch balls and arrange them on a baking sheet or skillet.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or pan-fry for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meatballs are browned and cooked through.
  • While the meatballs cook, prepare the tzatziki by combining yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and dill. Mix well and chill.

  • Serve the meatballs hot, accompanied by the tzatziki sauce. Garnish with extra dill and cucumber slices if desired
