This Oven-Baked Chicken Parmesan is a healthier take on a classic Italian favorite! Crispy, breaded chicken breasts are baked to perfection and topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, making it a comforting and flavorful dish that’s much lighter than the traditional fried version. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In one bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan, oregano, and garlic powder. In another bowl, place the flour, and in a third bowl, the beaten eggs.

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then coat each in flour, dip in the egg wash, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.

  • Place the coated chicken breasts on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and crispy.
